Official sounds are delivered by your distributor and appear in TikTok’s music library.
Original sounds are created directly by users when they upload videos with their own audio.
TikTok uses fingerprinting technology (similar to YouTube’s Content ID) to scan original sounds. If your track is detected, the system automatically links it to your official sound. When this happens, the original sound will display a note such as “Contains: [Song Name]”, and all videos using it will attribute back to your official release.
If you find an original sound using your music that isn’t linked, contact us. We can submit a manual request to TikTok to match it. Reviews typically take about 3 business days.
