What types of royalties can I collect with Omziki Distribution's SoundExchange integration?

In phase 1 of our SoundExchange channel integration, Omziki Distribution is offering to its clients representing rights owners of sound recordings (or being rights owners themselves) the option to register their catalogue and collect the corresponding performance royalties.

How does the process work?

In order to register sound recordings and collect neighbouring rights on behalf of your end-users (artists owning their masters, record labels), you have the legal obligation to secure a rights management mandate from them.

Please note that the 10% of the royalty share is applied to Neighboring Rights Collection.

The label of your end-user is not a SoundExchange member yet:

  • Your end-users shall complete and sign a mandate allowing you to register sound recordings and collect neighbouring rights on their behalf. The template is available here (can be found attached to this article)

  • Any end-user can request a SoundExchange label permission through its account from the tab “Labels”.

  • You will then receive the following e-mail:

“This message has been automatically generated to notify you that the user [user email] has asked for permission to distribute to SoundExchange channel, through the label [LABEL NAME]”.

After managing the submission of this label on SoundExchange, the admin can either approve or reject this permission request here: https://YOURDOMAIN/labels/1111/special_permissions

  • For getting the label approved, you shall send HERE a copy of the signed neighbouring rights management mandate (in pdf). A template of this mandate is attached to the article, you are invited to download it and use it for obtaining authorization from your end-users.

  • Our Support team will then make sure the document is signed and completed properly and approve the label for the SoundExchange channel.

The label of your end-user is already a SoundExchange member:

In case an artist (owning its masters) or label is already a member of SoundExchange but wants to use your platform for sound recordings registration and neighbouring rights collection, they shall contact claims@soundexchange.com adding in Cc your main contact email.
